Developing the next generation of global leaders

Since 2017, Common Purpose has worked with RMIT University to ensure that all 100,000 students have the opportunity to undertake a global experience. We've developed a highly innovative programme portfolio of synchronous, and asynchronous experiences, delivered both online and in-person, offering the breadth and diversity required to ensure genuinely equitable access across the University. Run in Melbourne, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Singapore and online, these programmes have enabled over 20,000 students to complete one of our experiences in the past 5 years.

The partnership has also taken great strides to support RMIT's broader goals to prepare students for life and work. This includes supporting RMIT's Reconciliation Action Plan to develop a range of courses for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, along with a bespoke micro credential for the wider student population on racism and reconciliation in the Australian and global context. The partnership also aligns with student success plans to ensure RMIT are creating global citizens who are focused on taking action on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and are industry connected.

Since 2017:

The diversity of the contributors across all sectors allowed the students to hear different ideas, voices and perspectives so that they get the insight and knowledge they need for their futures.

Every year of the partnership, up to 140 different industry leaders engaged with students, sharing their career and leadership experiences, inviting them into their organizations to get first-hand insight into their work, working together on their current organizational challenges and mentoring and coaching them.
